In order to qualify to become a member you must practice your craft within Herefordshire or the borders and be a full or part-time jeweller or metal-based artist. This ensures a competency of use in the workshop but does not require Alloy members to use their practice as financial income.
To apply to Alloy for membership, please fill out an application form and email it to alloyjewellers@hotmail.co.uk along with 6 high quality images of your work, artist statement and covering letter and a professional CV.

Yes! Alloy has a graduate scheme running alongside Hereford College of Arts, where one graduate is awarded a placement to support them through their first 12 months of initial business setup. Included within the award is unlimited access to the workshop and communal benefits of Alloy, with a reduced membership fee; mentoring with more established makers and funding (subject to availability) through the Elmley Foundation. Graduates also organise exhibiting their own work amongst the cabinets, located in The Courtyard. Yes! Alloy also offer temporary membership to current students who wish to access a small metal workshop over the holidays. Competency and confidence are required as the workshop is not a manned space, therefore this is subject to application. Alloy membership has two tiers; Community (£10 per month) and Workshop (£20 per month). The community membership includes all the benefits of the professional weight of Alloy: the skill sharing, exhibitions and insurance advantages. Community members may access the workshop for a fee up to three times a year, before being asked to switch to Workshop tariff.
The Workshop membership includes all of this and access to the communal teaching grade workshop. Members can book out the workspace to teach the public from it, with prior agreement between all members.
All Membership fees are paid for by direct debit, setup for the first of each month.

Alloy Meetings occur on the first Thursday of every month. During the meetings we are updated on the progress of current projects for Alloy and discuss new ventures such as exhibitions and challenges. Each month we also Skill Share - a brilliant resource for developing our practices.

Alloy have three display cabinets next to the Courtyard Shop, and members can display their work. Cabinet shows are changed every 6-8 weeks depending on season. Items for sale are subject to a 40% commission; 20% of which will go to the Courtyard and 20% of which will go to Alloy. Payments for each month will be made in arrears the following month.
Alloy have previously held exhibitions in person in a variety of locations, and also have held challenges online. We have also held joint stalls for craft fairs under the name of Alloy. We have exciting plans for future exhibitions and events, and welcome new ideas and challenges all the time!
Alloy members showcasing as individual makers can utilise our insurance policy (public liability £3m and £10k losses) if displaying our logo. Please discuss this with the Chair prior to exhibiting.

We have a core team comprising of the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Cabinets Manager and Workshop Manager. However every Alloy member is valued and has their own unique presence within Alloy, and everyone is part of keeping Alloy the unique resource that it is.
